Carmarthenshire County Council is announcing a series of free and engaging activities for children and families throughout the summer holidays. These initiatives aim to provide fun, educational, and active experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
Join us for a series of Summer of Play sessions, offering a variety of activities in local parks. The first session will be held on 29 July in Cross Hands Park from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The following day, the fun continues in Pontyberem Park from 10:00am to 12:00pm. These sessions include messy play, active activities, toys, arts and crafts, and sensory play, ensuring a fun-filled morning or afternoon for all attendees.
On Monday 29 July, why not visit the Ffwrnes Family festival that is taking place at the Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli. This free event is fun for all the family.
The day is jammed full of fun street theatre, arts and crafts, yoga and a music workshop- and it is all free! The full list of activities, including times and location, can be found on the Theatrau Sir Gâr website.
For more information about the day, then please contact Theatrau Sir Gâr:

There is no need to buy a ticket, just turn up and enjoy!
The Council is also organising two free bus trips, providing children and families the opportunity to explore new places and enjoy a day out. On 7 August, families can join a trip to Wiggleys Farm Park in Bridgend. Later in the month, 22 August, there will be a trip to Tenby. Both trips feature several pick-up points across the Gwendraeth Valley, making it easy for families to join in the fun. To book your place on the trips, please contact MADAVIES@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
Additionally, on 15 August, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, there will be an exciting event at Leekes Cross Hands Car Park where families can meet local professionals, including police officers, the Fire and Rescue Service, Dental Service, Coastguard, and more. This event offers a unique opportunity for children to learn about the important roles these professionals play in our community while enjoying interactive and educational activities.
Our Food and Fun programme will run over 12 days during the school summer holidays and is offered to eligible schools in Carmarthenshire that have 16% or greater Free School Meal eligibility. The 8 schools participating in the scheme have communicated full information about the Food and Fun programme to eligible pupils. 4 schools taking part will be visiting Bremenda Isaf County Farm to engage in vegetable growing and harvesting activities, other produce from the farm will be used for cooking lessons during the programme.
