A new, one-of-a-kind car air freshener has been launched – and it smells exactly like the British summer (rain included!)

Brits can now get their hands on a FREE limited-edition sample to celebrate the school holidays.

Ripe Motorhomes has created the fragrance to bottle the excitement of trips to the beach or countryside with friends and family – packing up the car and heading off on an adventure…but with rain never far away in the forecast.

To define the signature summer scent, researchers surveyed 2,000 UK holidaymakers on the smells they most closely associate with British summer holidays.

The most commonly cited responses were:

  • Salty sea air
  • Damp blankets
  • Smoky bonfires
  • Flower fields

The company then worked with NIBA, an expert specialising in bespoke fragrance commissions, to turn these most frequently mentioned elements into one nostalgia-soaked summer scent.

Available as an air freshener, the smell is set to offer Brits a warm, fuzzy summer feeling in seconds – and will last long into the Autumn while on their commute, school run or trip to the dentist.

Its launch comes at the start of the school break for England and Wales (or right in the middle for Scotland and Northern Ireland), when many families will be packing their bags and hitting the road on a summer holiday, or dreaming of one.

John Woosey, Founder of Ripe Motorhomes, commented: “Everybody will have fond memories of summertime adventures gone by – especially as 2024 has so far been lacking in opportunities to recreate them!

“Research suggests that the connection between scent and memory is incredibly strong – in fact, emotional moments may be captured along with a certain fragrance and ‘locked’ away in our brains for decades. All it takes is one hint of the smell associated with that memory and it can bring the feeling flooding back to our minds.

“With this new smell, we wanted to do just that: bottle the fuzzy nostalgia of summer holidays and help give Brits a boost during what has been a disappointing year of weather so far.”
