A new YouGov poll has revealed that much of the British public believes the actions of Western politicians are increasing the risk of a new world war.

Jalsa Salana UK Day 2-29.07.2023

The survey, commissioned by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, found that only 6% of the general public believed actions of Western leaders were decreasing the risk of a new world war. More worryingly, 44% thought the actions of politicians were actively increasing the risk of war breaking out.

Women seem to be more concerned than men with only 3% believing that politicians were contributing to lowering the risk of a war compared to 8% of men.

The poll’s findings have been released to coincide with the first day of the Jalsa Salana – a gathering of more than 40,000 Ahmadi Muslims on a 200 acre farm just outside of London.

Ahmadi Muslims from more than 100 countries have gathered to hear from their Caliph, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who has been warning of the risk of a new world war breaking out. The Caliph will deliver a number of speeches over the course of three days to the 40,000 gathered and millions watching around the world.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has said:

“We must urge our leaders and politicians to step back from the precipice because there is no doubt that if a global war erupts, it will be unlike anything the world has ever seen. Surely, its catastrophic and devastating consequences are far beyond our comprehension.

“Many countries have acquired state-of-the-art weapons that have the deadly capacity to kill thousands upon thousands of people with just one strike. It will not just be us who endure the pain and who grieve, rather, our children and future generations will suffer for our sins and their lives will be destroyed through no fault of their own.”

The Jalsa Salana will include the Bait (pledge of allegiance) – a powerful ceremony where attendees will link hands in a gesture of unity, signifying their desire to elevate their spiritual standards and to fulfil the rights of all humanity
