CETMA has been successful with Circular Economy Funding from the UK Government via the Ten Towns Initiative which is administered by Carmarthenshire County Council.

The aim of the Circular Economy Fund is to support activities which contribute to the advancement of the Circular Economy as part of the Ten Towns initiative.

Seed corn funding was made available to support communities to develop circular economy activities in town centres that help deliver positive environmental, social and economic benefits for the local community, assisting to develop sustainable projects in reducing local carbon footprint.

CETMA’s 2nd Gen Electrical Project has received funding to:

  1. Expand CETMA’s successful Kitchen Equipment Library to include other non-Kitchen Equipment e.g. tools
  2. Help CETMA to promote and sell refurbished items via 2nd Gen Electrical online shop, and create a pop up shop in Kidwelly.

Jonathan Williams, CETMA MD said:

“We’ll be working with the public, and other organisations such as Choose2reuse to identify electrical items that can either be resold, donated to the community or added to our Equipment Library.”

“The funding will also help us make 2ND Generation brand sustainable by helping us to set up a shop in Kidwelly.”

Items that will be available for reusing from the Shop in Kidwelly will be:

  • Irons
  • Slow Cookers
  • Vacuum cleaners,
  • gaming equipment,
  • laptops,
  • tablets,
  • other items

“We’ll also be working with local social enterprise Choose2reuse who will be helping us to source items, and also reusing any items that aren’t required by the project.”

Choose2Reuse is a non-profit organisation established in 2015 to provide volunteer placements and job opportunities to individuals who are marginalised or are furthest from the labour market, through the re-use and upcycling of clothing, shoes, bedding, bags, toys, bric-a-brac and other unwanted items.

“We’re asking the public to donate to us any unwanted items so that we can check them to see if they work and be put to Community use.”

Donation and pick up points are:

CETMA Kidwelly, Banc Pendre, Kidwelly, SA174 4TA

CETMA Business & Community Centre, 154 Station Rd, Llanelli, SA15 1YU

Items will be available to view on the 2ND Gen Electricals Facebook page and CETMA website.
