Animals, we love them, eat them, live with them, bet on them and wear them. How we treat animals and how they impact our everyday lives are explored in these six documentaries.

Earthlings –Deemed a tough watch by many, this 2005 documentary depicts how we treat animals in industries from puppy mills to animal testing. Using hidden cameras in industries we normally don’t get to see, this disturbing film shows a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of the animals that are solely used to serve us.

Seaspiracy – A detailed look into the fishing industry and the effects of overfishing on Sea life and climate change. Every year its estimated around 50 million sharks and other non targeted species are accidentally killed after getting trapped in fishing nets. Alongside the amount of plastics and waste that gets left in the oceans as a product of fishing. Its enough to make you question if the fishing industry will be sustainable for much longer?

Cowspiracy – A look into animal agriculture and how our overconsumption of meat is destroying the planet, the amazon rainforest and speeding up climate change. Why are environmental organisations reluctant to talk about this? Kip Anderson searches for the answers.

Don’t F**k With Cats –  A true crime documentary that starts off with social media sleuths wanting justice for kittens that were killed by an unknown man online. Events take an even darker turn, when he starts baiting the internet, leaving clues and threats about what he will do next.

Blackfish – A sad look into the life of Orcas in SeaWorld and how these large whales found themselves being used as an animal attraction. These killer whales don’t actually harm humans in the wild but have killed four people whilst in captivity. This documentary looks at the events leading up to the death of SeaWorld trainer, Dawn Brancheau.
