Nominations are now open for the prestigious Actif Carmarthenshire Sport Awards 2024. The public is invited to nominate local sporting heroes—whether athletes, coaches, volunteers, or clubs—for a chance to be recognised for their exceptional contributions to sport in the county.

The Actif Carmarthenshire Sport Awards, organised by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Sport and Leisure Team, celebrate outstanding achievements in sport and acknowledge the dedication of those who help  sport to thrive in Carmarthenshire. The awards shine a spotlight on the region’s sportspeople, committed coaches, and selfless volunteers who make a significant impact on their communities.

This year’s award categories include:

  • Sports Personality of the Year
  • Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year
  • Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
  • Community Sports Coach and High-Performance Sports Coach of the Year
  • Volunteer and Inspiring Young Person of the Year
  • Sports Team, Young Team, and Sports Club of the Year
  • Outstanding Services to Sport Award

Anyone born in Carmarthenshire, currently living in the county, or representing a Carmarthenshire club or school can be nominated. Athletes, coaches, and volunteers are also eligible to be nominated for multiple awards, though each category requires a separate nomination form.

Cllr. Hazel Evans, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism said:

We are proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our local sportspeople, coaches, and volunteers through the Actif Carmarthenshire Sport Awards. These individuals and teams are essential to keeping sport alive and thriving in our communities, inspiring others and showcasing the talent we have here in Carmarthenshire. I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to nominate those who truly make a difference, so we can recognise and honour their dedication and passion.”

Nominations will close on Sunday, 3 November.
