From next year, it’s been revealed that the 20mph limits introduced across Wales last September could be set to go back to 30mph. Rhydian Jones, motor expert at Confused.com car insurance comments:
“Over the next few months and into early next year, drivers in Wales may notice that roads which were changed to a 20mph speed limit could start reverting back to 30mph. Whilst opinions on 20mph zones have been divided, it’s important to remember they have been put in place for a reason.
“Those campaigning for 20mph zones cite less collisions and cleaner air quality as reasons to reduce speed limits. Drivers should always be mindful of surroundings and pedestrians and be fully aware of the speed limit on the road they’re driving. We understand it may be confusing to drivers as roads in Wales start to revert back to 30mph so in order to avoid getting a speeding fine, drivers should remain alert and check online for updates.
“If you are fined, the amount could depend on your annual income, which band your speeding fine falls into and how much faster than the limit you were driving. Using our speeding fine calculator will help you to work out how much you might owe if you are caught.”
