  • 26 graduate opportunities are available for 2025 across a wide range of career paths
  • 99 graduates have completed the programme since 2009

Welsh Water, the only not-for-profit water company in England and Wales is creating more graduate opportunities for 2025. The company is inviting applications for its latest intake of new talent as it moves into a new investment period with significant challenges and opportunities ahead.

The roles range across finance, IT, management, engineering, science and quantity surveying. Since inception in 2009, the two-year programme has seen some 99 graduates move through the process, many of these continuing to stay with the company and develop flourishing careers.

Former graduate, Simon George, who has now moved on to become Head of Customer Metering at the company, told us about his time on the scheme. He said: “I studied Geography at Swansea University and was keen to secure a job in a company where I could gain career progression that was linked to my degree. I attended a graduate fair and met some colleagues from Welsh Water who explained the model of the company which I found really interesting – so I decided to go for their graduate scheme.”

“I was really pleased when I’d learned I’d been accepted on the programme – I didn’t know what was ahead, but I’d say it has gone well so far. Some of my highlights from my journey have been meeting other graduates, hosting some large conferences and taking part in fund raising activities including visiting Uganda as part of our WaterAid partnership.”

“The support at Welsh Water is second to none. I’ve worked with many great managers and mentors, and I’ve also learnt a lot from colleagues who have expert knowledge, and I’m very thankful for the help I’ve had and still get. The graduate scheme gave me so much experience that I may not have been able to get without it. It’s also helped me learn what I like to do; as well as what I don’t.”

“If I could give one piece of advice to current graduates thinking of joining the programme, I would say: accept new challenges and opportunities. You’ll learn so much about yourself, and help figure out what you want to do, and how that might change over time.”

Annette Mason, Head of Talent and Inclusivity, said: “We offer a wide range of graduate programmes designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to kick-start your career in an exciting and diverse industry. As Head of Talent, I am proud to see our Graduate programme, grow from strength to strength.  We have a wealth of talent coming into the organisation and it is fantastic to see these individual’s flourish. If you are a forward thinking, innovative graduate who wants to make a difference to people and to the environment we would love to hear from you”

To apply for Welsh Water’s graduate programme, applicants will be expected to achieve or already achieved their degree by the time the programme starts and have a demonstratable passion for the field they’re applying for. To find out more, visit: dwrcymru.com/Careers
