Carmarthenshire County Council is delighted to announce that its Leisure Services have been recognised with top awards and commendations at the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards, held on 7 November at The Plough Hotel in Rhosmaen.

CofGĆ¢r, the County Councilā€™s Museums & Arts Service, secured the award for Best Attraction for its renowned Museum of Land Speed in Pendine, a site that celebrates the history of land speed records on the famous sands and attracts visitors from all over the world. This fun and hands on museum is a model of sustainable design that hosts special exhibits alongside interactive displays. Its purpose-built function space has welcomed a variety of events this year, from corporate meetings and childrenā€™s activities to a beautiful wedding ceremonyā€”all while offering spectacular views of Pendineā€™s seven-mile sands.

Carmarthenshire County Councilā€™s Outdoor Recreation Service also garnered an award for Pembrey Country Park, a cherished destination known for its breathtaking landscapes and family-friendly amenities. The park received the award for Best Camping, Caravan, and Glamping Site, as well as commendations in the categories of Best Event (Christmas Light Trail) and Best Attraction. Additionally, the servicesā€™ new addition, Caban, Pendine, a 14-room accommodation and restaurant, was highly commended in the Best B & B category. These accolades highlight the diverse and high-quality offerings of the service

Carmarthenshire County Councilā€™s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism – Cllr Hazel Evans commented on the success:

Tourism plays a vital role in Carmarthenshireā€™s economy and communities. These awards highlight the dedication and hard work of our Leisure Services team, whose efforts ensure that our attractions remain top-tier destinations. We are proud of these achievements and the positive impact tourism has on our county.

These accolades reflect the commitment of Carmarthenshire County Council to providing exceptional leisure and cultural experiences for residents and visitors alike for 12 months of the year.
