Their study ranked 55 global destinations based on the Booze-Free Friendly Index, considering factors such as the number of bars and clubs, average alcohol consumption, wellness activities, and non-alcoholic evening options. Dubai, UAE ranks as the ultimate destination for a booze-free getaway this January with a booze-free friendly score of 18.5 out of 22 – 1.7 times higher than the global average of 10.9. With an incredible 399 wellness activities on offer, you’ll be spoilt for choice, whether you’re looking to unwind at world-class spas, rejuvenate in luxurious bathhouses, or get active at top-notch gyms.
Marrakech (18/22) and Denpasar (17.4) follow in second and third place. Both cities are renowned for their tranquil atmospheres and abundance of wellness experiences. Marrakech is a haven for rejuvenating spa treatments, meditative yoga retreats, and vibrant souks, while Denpasar offers serene beachfront resorts, holistic therapies, and lush landscapes perfect for mindful relaxation.

Rome is Europe’s booze-free friendly capital with a score of 15.2 out of 22. Despite having a large number of bars and clubs, there are ample holistic evening activities (125) to choose from to keep you on the straight and narrow such as authentic cooking classes or haunted ghost tours.
Reykjavik (13.1/22) and Paris (11.9/22) follow in second and third position. Notably, London also ranks in the top 5 with a score of 11.8 out of 22– the UK’s number one spot for a booze-free staycation.
