Ever wondered how much a family heirloom is worth or whether items stored away in your loft or cupboard have any value?
Could a piece of jewellery or silver, a painting, an example of Asian pottery, an item of militaria, an old book, a stamp album or a coin collection, that has been in the family for generations, be a hidden gem?
The answers to all these questions and more will be available when a team of specialists from Halls Fine Art, a leading regional fine art auction house based in Shrewsbury, hits the road for a series of free antiques valuation days this year.
The fine art team is adding Macclesfield and Arley to its list, which already includes Ludlow, Montgomery, Whitchurch, Oswestry, Bishops Castle and Shifnal. Other locations are likely to be added during the year.
That’s in addition to four Saturday free valuations events at Halls’ headquarters in Shrewsbury and specialist weekday sessions.
First event to be held at Arley Arboretum at Arley, near Bewdley will be on March 13, followed by July 17 and November 28, all from 10am to 2pm.
Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa, Macclesfield is another new venue for the free valuation events on March 20 and September 11 from 10am to 2pm.
The free Saturday valuation events at Halls’ headquarters, which were trialled last year, will be held on February 8, May 10, August 9 and November 8 from 10am to 3pm
Other events will be held at Halls offices from 10am to 2pm: Oswestry on January 31, March 28, May 30, July 25, September 26 and November 28; Whitchurch on February 28, April 29, June 24, August 19 and October 28; Bishops Castle on February 19, April 30, June 25, August 20 and October 29.
The fine art specialists will also be visiting Montgomery Town Hall on February 6, April 3, June 5, August 7, October 2 and December 4 from 10am to 2pm.
Valuation events at Fishmore Hall, Ludlow have been particularly successful for Halls Fine Art, with a collection of gold coins consigned last year making £16,000 at auction in November. This year’s events will be held on March 12, July 16 and November 12 from 10am to 2pm.
The Granary at Weston Park, Weston-under-Lizard, Shifnal will be hosting free events on March 4, May 6, July 8, September 9 and November 4 from 10am to 1pm.
Anyone planning to attend the valuation events is asked to contact Halls Fine Art on Tel: 01743 450700 to book an appointment. Anyone wishing to have collections or large antiques valued at any of the events may take along photographs to show the specialists.
