The UK’s favourite nail shapes: which should you consider for your next manicure?

Almond nails are the UK’s favourite but Brummies don’t agree

New data has revealed that almond nails are the nation’s favourite, with Brits exploring the nail shape the most online, ahead of getting a new manicure.

Open Study College, which offers nail technician courses, investigated the number of Google searches relating to different nail shapes, to find out which are the most popular this season.

Almond nails ranked in pole position, with over 18,000 searches by Brits looking for nail inspiration this winter.

Ranking in second place is natural nails, with over 12,000 searches, followed by square nails with over 6,500 searches.

The least searched nail shape was found to be cut out nails, where the nail shape starts as square, but with the tip cut out in an inverted moon shape.

Commenting on the findings, nail tech professional and Open Study College learner, Chloe (@chloemarie.nails) said:

“Almond nails have been a big hit with my clients recently. It’s a really versatile shape that’s perfect for a classic polished look or as a base for more playful nail art.”

Open Study College’s research found that almond nails are 1.5 times more popular than the second favoured nail shape, natural nails, and over 2.5 times more popular than the third most favoured nail shape, square nails.

However, the data shows that not all Brits are in agreement, with Brummies favouring a natural nail shape over almond nails.
