As a new report reveals that 82% of people have lost sleep over a major life event – for many of us it’s the real-world scenarios that keep us up at night. With the average person getting 5.4 hours of sleep before a big event (and 17% sleeping less than 2 hours), compared to the 7-9 hours recommended by the NHS. However, how does Wales compare to the UK average?
The new 2,000 person report by MattressNextDay revealed the biggest events impacting sleep, common concerns for the Welsh can be seen below – if you would like to see the full data set for Wales please let me know;
- Most Welsh (23%) The Welsh only get between 4-5 hours sleep a night.
- Big Work Meeting (25%), Night Before Paying a Big Bill (25%), and job interviews (19%) are the biggest life events keeping people awake at night.
- General nervousness (50%), anxiety about the future (36%), overwhelming emotions (28%), and forgetting what to do (25%) were common worries.
- Music and sound (29%), and deep breathing exercises (26%) were the most commonly among the Welsh to calm anxieties
