GLASGOW 2026: CYCLING SCHEDULE LOCKED IN – 26 MEDALS TO BE WON ON THE TRACK

The medal events programme for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has now been confirmed, featuring an expanded programme set to deliver the biggest para sport medal schedule in Games history.

The Games, taking place from 23 July to 2 August 2026, will see athletes compete across four key venues, including the Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, where track cycling and para track cycling will be staged. With a total of 26 cycling medals available, Glasgow 2026 is set to feature one of the most competitive velodrome schedules ever seen at the Games.

Track Cycling Events at Glasgow 2026

Both men’s and women’s track cycling will feature a total of eighteen medal events, showcasing endurance and sprint disciplines:

  • Sprint
  • 1000m Time Trial
  • 4000m Individual Pursuit
  • 4000m Team Pursuit
  • Points Race (40km for men, 25km for women)
  • Scratch Race (10km for both men and women)
  • Team Sprint
  • Keirin
  • Elimination Race

Para Track Cycling Expands for 2026

Reflecting the commitment to an integrated para sport programme, Glasgow 2026 will feature a record 46 para medal events across six sports, including an expanded Para Track Cycling programme. Eight medal events will be contested across both the men’s and women’s categories:

  • Tandem B Sprint
  • Tandem B 1000m Time Trial
  • Individual Pursuit (C1-C3 3000m for men, C4-C5 4000m for women)
  • 1000m Time Trial (C1-C3 for men, C4-C5 for women)

This expansion includes two new para cycling events compared to Birmingham 2022, reinforcing the Commonwealth Games’ ambition to enhance accessibility and competition within para sport.

A Landmark Games for Cycling

With a record number of medal opportunities and a packed velodrome schedule, the Glasgow 2026 cycling events promise to deliver thrilling competition for athletes and spectators alike. The expanded para cycling programme also marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development of inclusive cycling at the Commonwealth Games.

Rebecca Edwards-Symmons, Chief Executive of Team Wales, welcomed the announcement: “The detailed programme supports crucial planning for us and the individual sports, as well as the athletes aiming for selection.
