The Best Cities in Germany for a Romantic Getaway

Travel experts at neuschwansteincastletickets.tours have analysed several factors in each of Germany’s most populous cities, such as the number of high-rated restaurants and the number of high-rated hotels that mention keywords such as ‘romantic’ and ‘couples’ in reviews. The analysis determined scores out of 100 for each city to determine the final ranking.

In first place is Freiburg im Breisgau. The city has an overall score of 68.69 out of a possible 100. Per 100,000 people, there are 69.09 attractions rated four stars or higher, meaning there are plenty of exciting places in the city for couples to explore together.

In second place is Düsseldorf with an overall score of 68.19.  The number of restaurants with a rating of four stars or higher sits at 146.26 per 100,000 people, so couples are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out.

Rostock comes in third with an overall score of 67.64. The city gives couples plenty of options for somewhere to wind down after a day of exploring, with 38.33 hotels rated four stars or above per 100,000 people.

In fourth place is Frankfurt. Like in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt offers plenty of places for wining and dining, with 166.97 restaurants rated four stars or higher per 100,000 people. The city has an overall score of 67.05.

Dresden ranks in fifth place. With an overall score of 61.27, its highest-rated factor is attractions, with 59.16 rated four stars or higher per 100,000 people.

Potsdam ranks in sixth place. With an overall score of 60.16, the city boasts 14.68 highly rated hotels per 100,000 people that mention romance-related keywords in reviews.

Munich ranks in seventh place with an overall score of 57.36. Like Dresden, the highest-rated factor is attractions. Per 100,000 people, there are 55.73 attractions rated four stars or higher.

In eighth place is Lübeck. The city offers a range of hotels rated four stars or above, precisely 30.10 per 100,000 people. The overall score for Lübeck is 56.21.

In ninth place is Wiesbaden. Couples in the city won’t struggle to find a charming restaurant, with 33.79 highly rated restaurants per 100,000 people that mention romance-related keywords. The overall score for the city is 55.55.

Cologne ranks in tenth place with an overall score of 55.32. Cologne offers 61.14 attractions rated four stars or above per 100,000 people; therefore, couples can choose from plenty of activities to enjoy together and soak up the culture.
