Thanks to generous donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has been able to fund two riser recliner chairs worth over £3,000 for the Frailty Unit at Withybush Hospital.

The adjustable recliner chairs can support patients to sit and stand safely and comfortably.

David Canning, Therapy Lead for Frailty, said: “We are very grateful that charitable funds have enabled the unit to purchase two new recliner chairs.

“The new chairs will help replicate what many patients have at home. Many patients have become quite reliant on these at home and therefore struggle to stand up when they come into hospital.

“The chairs will also help the therapy and ward staff to rehabilitate patients and reduce injuries by helping patients to stand rather than staff having to physically help patients, therefore reducing the strain on staff.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
