Care sector legal specialist RWK Goodman has advised on the sale of three specialist care homes in Carmarthenshire and Berkshire to a leading health and social care group.

The firm’s Health and Social Care team advised Oakview Care Services on the deal to sell Carmarthenshire’s Bryn Y Wawr and Clynsaer homes as well as The Old Vicarage in Berkshire to Cygnet, marking the latest acquisition for the provider.

Bryn Y Wawr in Llandeilo provides residential care for up to 10 adults with learning disabilities, autism, and associated complex needs, while Clynsaer in Llandovery provides space for 11 residents, and Hungerford’s The Old Vicarage provides space for up to 13.

All three homes will undergo a transition process into the Cygnet group, with existing staff teams working with Cygnet to ensure continuity of care for existing residents as a high priority.

Partner and co-head of RWK Goodman’s Health & Social Care team Hazel Phillips and associate Yasmine Grove led on the deal, with associate Chris Amys and associate Layla Banfield advising on employment and real estate needs respectively.

The sale was arranged by Richard Musto from care home agent The Confidential Register.

Hazel said: “These three Oakview Care homes provide much needed and crucial services within Carmarthenshire and Berkshire, and we’re thrilled to be able to provide our legal expertise on behalf of Oakview to ensure these properties fit in well to the wider Cygnet group.

“Every aspect of this deal required a strong consideration not just of the aims of the overall business, but ensuring the residents in these homes will continue to get the highest quality of care and support going forward, and it’s a privilege to be able to assist in that manner with our support.”

The purchase is the latest addition to Cygnet’s portfolio of properties, which services more than 800 residents and service users across 74 residential, supported living, nursing home, and day services over the UK.

Nicola Elliott from Oakview Care Services said: “We were delighted with the professional and friendly service we received from RWK Goodman throughout our sale. Their level of understanding of the care sector helped immensely with the sale process. We would not hesitate to recommend them to other care home providers looking to buy or sell in this complex market.”
