More than a hundred different kinds of tulips may be seen at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm. Since the tulips' bloom is so sensitive to growth conditions and weather, catching them at their optimum requires patience and a little of luck. The good news is that some types sprout in late March when the ground is still cool, while others need to wait until late April when it has warmed up. The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival site adds that “Generally speaking, mid-April generally provides the nicest overlap of color between the early-, mid-, and late-blooming tulips.”
